Clouds

Life didn't happen as planned this week.  They rarely do any more.  Tuesdays and Thursdays are our science days, but here we are at Friday and we have yet to do either of our science experiments. Thank goodness one of the perks of homeschooling is flexibility.

In honor of embracing the chaos, today is Friday science day. Our topic today is clouds.

We learned a lot about clouds: the three main different types of clouds, the water cycle, and the molecular makeup of water.

First we talked about how clouds are full of water. Did you know that a cloud can have anywhere from 100 to 1000 tons of water in it? This experiment was to show how when the water gets too heavy in the cloud it starts to fall down out of that cloud of precipitation or rain. Hattie really liked to watch this one.

Next we talked about the water cycle.

And lastly, well the big kids watch the video on hydrogen and oxygen bonding together, the littles made a cloud book and an art project showing the different types of clouds. All in all I would call it a success.
